Grooving Masked Ball with Johnnie Walker
THE Governor’s Masked Ball over the years, have demonstrated that the Calabar Christmas Festival is not all about celebration, as it also provides opportunities for participating corporate bodies and well meaning individuals to reflect and offer humanitarian assistance to worthy cause in Cross River State.
As part of activities marking this year’s Festival, wife of the Cross River State governor, Mrs. Obioma Imoke, championed the fight against pneumonia for the children of Cross River State. Tagged Breath of Life, the project sets out to cater for 400, 000 children suffering from the disease in the state.
The 2011 The Governors Masked Ball, which was sponsored by the world-class scotch whiskey Johnnie Walker Black Label, featured American jazz, R&B, soul, and funk group, Kool and the Gang, who took the audience down the music memory lane.
Other artistes at event staged within Water Park, Tinapa Resort, included Temitayo George, Calabar born-UK based musician, Prince Peter Offiong Archibong as well as France-based Bassey Ebong.
Away from the usual glitz and razzmatazz that usually come with the event, Lady Imoke, who mounted the stage in complete old school makeover, made a passionate plea to individuals and organisations to give their support to fight the disease, which currently had devastating effect on its victims.
The plea caught the attention of one of the sponsors, Guinness Nigeria and Diageo, as their representative Mr. Amaechi Okobi, informed that Johnnie Walker brand is always eager and welcomes opportunities to support noble causes such as this offered by the event.
