Born on June 15, Chukwuebuka Francis Nwanne hails from Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. He attended St Charles College, Onitsha, before proceeding to the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, in the year 2000 for his National Diploma in Mass Communication (OND).
After his one-year compulsory Industrial Training programme at The Guardian Newspapers, Lagos, Nigeria (Arts Desk) in 2002, Chuks Nwanne as he’s widely known in the Nigerian media, returned to IMT for his Higher National Diploma in the same course, where he edited Campus Lens, the Students Union magazine of the institution. From then, he became a regular contributor to The Guardian Newspapers until his graduation in 2004.
After his one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Damaturu, Yobe State, Nigeria, where he edited Yobe Kopa Magazine (a publication of the NYSC, Yobe State) Chuks returned to The Guardian Newspaper as a freelance writer for the newspaper and Life Magazine (an entertainment and lifestyle supplement of The Guardian On Sunday) and was later employed to cover entertainment for both the newspaper and the magazine, with special attention to music reporting. He’s presently in charge of the entertainment beat in The Guardian
His job has taken him to seminars, workshops, training and festivals within and outside the country. He was among the Nigerian journalist selected to participate in a workshop on Investigative Reporting, organised by Media Right Agenda in collaboration With UNESCO (Lagos, Nigeria, 2007). He also was at the youth segment of the Africa Business Leaders Forum held in Accra, Ghana in 2007 and also attended the Africa Freedom International Dance Festival in Lusaka, Zambia the same year. Recently, Chuks was a guest of the South African Tourism during the Cape Town Jazz festival (2007), Joy of Jazz Festival, Johannesburg (2010) and Macufe Festival in Bloemfontein (2010).
Aside his job as a journalist, Chuks is also a project coordinator for the Committee for Relevant Art (CORA), a group of art enthusiasts involved in the promotion of all forms of art in Nigeria. He is presently serving as one of the judges for the Future Awards, which aims at grooming new crop of leaders for Nigeria.
Chuks holds a proficiency certificate in Management from the Nigerian Institute of management (NIM) and is presently pursuing a masters Degree in Communication Studies at the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.
